TheE 1st Juneteenth Jubilee

History of the Juneteenth Jubilee in Fishers, Indiana

The Jubilee was planned by Fishers Equity Awareness, a dedicated group consisting of recent alumni from Fishers High School and Hamilton Southeastern High School Founded By Mia Morales. These young community leaders formed the organization with the intent of addressing issues of equity, promoting inclusivity, and fostering awareness through community events and initiatives. With their strong ties to the Fishers area, they were determined to create an event that would educate, inspire, and unite residents, particularly around the importance of Juneteenth.

The Nickel Plate Amphitheater served as the perfect location for the inaugural celebration. Its open space and vibrant atmosphere provided an ideal setting for a diverse range of activities, from live performances and cultural exhibitions to educational talks and local food vendors. The event aimed to share the rich history of Juneteenth with the broader community while also creating a space for reflection, discussion, and celebration of African American culture.
