The legacy of

Raymond Jumper

A Light in every room

Raymond was truly a Ray of Sunshine. He had a warm, comforting, and positive energy he radiated to everyone he encountered. Born in Indianapolis, Raymond was a young man who knew no stranger. Whether he was playing basketball, video games, or competing in sports like tennis, soccer, and cross country, he brought an inclusive and energetic spirit to everything he did. In 2018, when he started high school, Raymond became a beloved member of Future Black Leaders, the first Black Student Union in the history of Fishers High School. We at FBL feel blessed to have known such a bright soul and we are honored that Raymond’s family has entrusted us to help them keep his legacy alive through the Ray of Sunshine Scholarship.

Raymond was famously the loudest in the room, not just in volume, but in his capacity for laughter and his ability to grab attention in the best way possible. To those closest to him, he was a "big teddy bear"—affectionate, opinionated, and never afraid to express his love through a hug or a kind word. His true gift was his ability to make people feel seen. He was fearlessly authentic, deeply empathetic, and a natural at connecting with people. He was an active member of the Fishers Community, attending Grace Church in Fishers, Indiana and attended the local YMCA frequently to enjoy playing basketball and weightlifting.

Words cannot truly describe the impact that Raymond had on his family and his community during his 17 years of life. From the football field, to his home, to the halls of Fishers High School, Raymond left a mark that will never be forgotten. The Ray of Sunshine Scholarship honors his impact. It is designed to support students who mirror his unique go with the flow vibe—those who know how to have fun and bring light to others while remaining hardworking and dedicated to their goals.

Raymond's light will not only be remembered, it will continue to shine through every student it supports.
